On the finest of Summer afternoons...the 3rd team bandwagon/camper van rolled into the red brick metropolis of New Wortley....eager to add another victory that would take the team back into the promotion places.
The side welcomed back an old face in the form of Tom Buxton, who, the last time he played...shared a team sheet with the likes of Malcolm Franks, Terry Lazenby and Phil Naylor! His return to the fold wasn't a pretty one....well...it was for one shot...first ball he faced, managed to play a nice off drive...looking good...then he tried it again to a straighter one...2nd ball duck it is then... From here in...the innings needed consolidation...and that it was it got with a brilliant 80 run stand from Burnham and Morton...Tricky playing some wonderful drives and pulls on his way to 50.
Then as always...with one wicket comes two...and Jai and Holden were in the middle...now, i've been received some flack for writing about myself in these reports so I'll just put down that I got 50...full stop. Supported in part by Jai but not many others...Esholt managed to amass 181...a creditable total on this Beirut outback track.
The bowling display really was only about one person...El Capitano...the leader of this ship...Neil Cooper who bowled aggressively and accurately to finish with figures of 7-27 off 20 overs...He was helped in the bowling department by Phil 'Keanu' Wilkinson and Jai 'Token' Mistry who manage to take the remaining three wickets. Solid catching from 2 ball Buxton, Holden and Andy Barker ensured that the only things New Wortley could be proud of this week were the excellent spread they put on at tea, and the two lovely ladies who walked past the field at 5.36pm exactly!
Tell your friends and loved ones...the 3rd team Juggernaut rolls onto the main ground this Sunday...buy your tickets early to avoid disappointment!!
